Ernest Green, wearing graduation gown, stands outside Little Rock Central High School stadium, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, on graduation night, May 29, 1958. Groups of other graduates, family members and friends as well as the school and a frame building are in the background. Green was the first black student to graduate Central High at commencement exercises at Quigley Stadium.
